Rockport-Fulton
The Charm Of The Texas Coast

Located just 30 miles northeast of Corpus Christi lies a village of birding, sightseeing boat trips, museums, fishing, art galleries, shopping and strolling on the beach. What a perfect setting for a vacation getaway.

The Towns of Rockport and Fulton offer a special charm: the kind of charm that has led many prominent artists to make this area their home. As a result, the area boasts one of the best collections of art galleries you'll find anywhere.

The same seascape that attracts artists also attracts our most famous winter visitors, the great Whooping Cranes. As you may be aware, the Whooping Cranes are an extremely endangered species and the nearby Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is their winter home. The Whooping Cranes are not the only avian visitor to our area as on any given day of the year, over 75 different species can be spotted in the marshes and along the sandy beaches.

Throughout the year enjoy such festivals as the Fulton Oysterfest in March, the Rockport Art Festival/Air Show/Fireworks on July 4th weekend, the Hummer/Bird Celebration in September, the Rockport Seafair in October and the Celebration and Holly Days in December. Believe it or not, there are even more events that pop up all throughout the year.

Points of interest abound with the Texas Maritime Museum, Fulton Mansion, the Rockport Center for the Arts. Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, the Big Tree at Goose Island State Park, the Rockport Beach Park, Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Stella Maris Chapel, Schoenstatt Shrine, Copano Causeway Pier, and much more.

No matter what time of year, visitors enjoy strolls along Rockport or Fulton Harbors where they can walk right up to the bait stands and purchase fresh shrimp, fish, crabs, and oysters when in season.

A driving audio cassette tape tour is available at the Chamber of Commerce office along with a birding guide to the area, a fishing guide booklet and a self-guided historical walking tour of Downtown Rockport.

Make your visit complete by meeting a "Charmer". Stop by the Visitor Lobby of the Chamber of Commerce office and visit with a volunteer greeter. They'll even offer you a cup of coffee! The visitor lobby hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
